To most people, they think about their auto glass or windshield and think it is there for some basic reasons. They think it is there for safety measures. They may think it is there to protect the contents inside of the car such as the passengers. These are both completely correct. You windshield is there to protect you and other things inside of the car safe from things outside. It also keeps you safe during any accident you may get into. Here at Houston Auto Glass, we want to give you some knowledge about all of the other things companies are doing with windshield these days. There are brand new technologies that are being use so your windshield and auto glass does not only keep you safe, but it also can warn you of things and give you very valuable information while you are driving.
One of the newest things that were recently introduced to some Mercedes and other high end brands is the information display on the windshield. This probably sounds a little crazy, but it is actually the coolest thing you could ever imagine. Through a type of projection system, your speed and other information will actually be displayed directly on your auto glass. Basically, it will show you the basic information that you can see in your dashboard. The great thing about this though is that you will not have to take your eyes off of the road while you look to see how fast you are going or if your blinker is on. To some, this sounds quite distracting, but this is specifically made to just be in the bottom of your auto glass so that you barely have to move your eyes to see the information.
Another great thing that is starting to be used in many vehicles is double pained glass. You have probably heard of double pained glass in your home or apartment, but not in your car. It does the exact same thing for both though. Double pained glass is used so that it blocks out some of the unwanted noise from the outside. You will not have to worry about not hearing sirens though. It blocks out noise, but not all of it. It is just great because it will block out some of the noise from stereo systems from neighboring cars but allows you to hear car horns and sirens all the same.
The last great thing we want to tell you about is something called a whispering window. Even we are excited and amazed by this one. The whispering window actually has a mechanism that makes it able to vibrate. The window will start to vibrate which warns you that there are dangers ahead. Now this has not been completely finished and is not available in cars yet, but we certainly cannot wait to learn all about this new invention.
